ALONE I WALK, SEARCHING . . .

Alone I walk, searching for the hand which was entwined in mine not long ago,
It is now replaced by my cold fingers, devoid of any warmth.
Alone I walk, searching for the twinkle in my eye,
It is now replaced by endless drops of tears.
Alone I walk, searching for the brightest smile on my face,
It is now replaced by a groan of pain.
Alone I walk, searching for the voice that made my heart skip a beat,
It is now replaced by a screeching silence.
Alone I walk, searching for the one who was my companion,
All I see is a deserted land till horizon.
Alone I walk, searching . . .
